Handcrafted Spalted Beech Chopping Boards

We make these chopping boards by hand in Donegal, using spalted beech from wind fallen trees.

Every tree we use is brought to our own sawmill, where we carefully plank the timber. The boards are then planed and thicknessed before we shape, sand and finish each piece by hand.

We love working with spalted beech because no two pieces are ever the same. The natural markings, knots, colour changes and beautiful grain are all part of the character of the wood. We work with what the tree gives us rather than trying to make every board look the same.

Each board is sanded with care and finished with organic food grade oils, then sealed with beeswax from our own bees. This brings out the natural warmth and beauty of the timber while giving it a beautiful, food safe finish.

These are very special pieces, made slowly and by hand from the tree to the finished board. Each one has its own character and story and we love the idea of them becoming part of a rustic, wood loving kitchen and being used and enjoyed for years to come.

Every piece is completely individual.
